Amazon Shopping

Price: Free / $12.99 per month / $119 per year

Amazon has virtually everything and they deliver it right to your door. Granted, it doesn’t always take place in the same day, but more and more places have same-day delivery from the online retail giant. You can get all kinds of stuff from Amazon, including things like toilet paper, food, gadgets, clothes, electronics, toys, and basically anything you can think of. The website’s massive selection makes it an obvious choice, especially if one-day shipping is available in your area.

Delivery.com

Price: Free / Varies

Delivery.com is a larger delivery service and it delivers a lot of stuff. It does the usual restaurant delivery like the popular services such as DoorDash. However, it also works for alcohol, groceries, office supplies, and more. In addition, you can schedule re-orders or pick-up orders yourself. It works in hundreds of cities across the US. The service is still mostly for restaurants but you can use it for a lot more than that.

Drizly

Price: Free

Drizly is a delivery app specifically for alcohol. You open the app, select the booze you want, and the service delivers it. The app has a few neat features, including the ability to price check across multiple liquor stores, a one hour delivery time, and 2-3 day shipping to places outside of its delivery zone. Saucey is another excellent app in this space if Drizly doesn’t work for you.

Dolly

Price: Free / Varies

Dolly is a delivery service for your stuff. It’s actually a moving service. Most people use Dolly when moving to a new residence. However, the service boasts muscle and space for things like large Craigslist purchases, retail store pickups, donation drop-offs, and even junk removal. It’s not available everywhere. In fact, there are only about a half a dozen cities in the US right now. Still, it’s a decent little service that seems to work well.

Instacart

Price: Free / Varies

Okay, so Instacart technically delivers food. However, this one focuses more on groceries than restaurant meals. It also deals in other necessities like diapers, flowers, and more. It supports over 150 stores that include both grocery stores like Whole Foods and stores like Target. You can have basically anything from those stores delivered whether it’s food or something else. Some other features include exclusive coupons, a chat function, and group shopping. It’s one of the larger and more stable delivery services out there and one of the ones we’d recommend first.

Local grocery store apps

Price: Free

Many grocery store apps have delivery features now. This one is a little difficult because there are few grocery stores that service the entire country and delivery options are usually restricted only to some cities. A couple of good options here include Publix and Kroger. Other stores may have delivery, but most at least include ordering online with a pickup option. For the most part, you just have to check out your favorite grocery store’s app to see if they offer delivery. Some do and some don’t. However, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe more grocery stores will in the near future.

Postmates

Price: Free / Varies

Postmates delivers just about anything you want. In fact, their FAQ states that they deliver everything except controlled substances, animals, and gift cards. That’s what we like to see! Postmates is available in a variety of places and the service boasts some decent features. There isn’t anything wrong with the app. However, the service does have the occasional customer service and infrastructure problem. You can order virtually anything and someone will bring it to you the vast majority of the time. We heard a story once where someone ordered a big screen TV from Best Buy and Postmates delivered it. That’s a neat trick.

Traditional package delivery apps

Price: Free / Varies

Traditional delivery apps still exist, of course. We’re talking about UPS, USPS, FedEx, and similar services. They do the same old stuff they’ve always done. You walk in with a package, and they take it where it needs to go. Most of these services have home pickup services as well. Thus,
