  • The Android 11 beta for the OnePlus 8 series hints at some new features.
  • The code suggests a new Ice Blue colorway is on the way for the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, or both.
  • It also hints at 65W “Super Warp Charge,” which might land on the OnePlus 8T.

It looks like OnePlus is working on some new goodies for the OnePlus 8, as a new Ice Blue color and 65W Super Warp Charging were just discovered in the newly-released Android 11 beta on the device.

A Twitter user named Lavin Amarnani (via XDA Developers) did some digging into the code and learned some rather interesting things that could be coming to the OnePlus 8 and future OnePlus phones in the future.

OnePlus 8 Ice Blue

The code mentioned four of the released colors for the OnePlus 8 (the Verizon-exclusive Polar Silver is missing). There’s Glacial Green, Onyx Black, Interstellar Glow, Ultramarine Blue, and Ice Blue listed in the code. The first four colors have already been made available, but there is no Ice Blue version of the OnePlus 8 yet. Presumably, the color is listed because it’ll be coming at some point soon.

We don’t know if the new color will come to the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, or both, as the snippet didn’t provide any specific information. Perhaps it could be an exclusive color for the rumored Sprint version of the OnePlus 8 5G.

OnePlus 8 65W charging

The other interesting bit of information discovered is about a faster form of charging. There’s a mention of Super Warp Charging (though there’s a typo in the code, so it says Super Wrap Charging). It also says 65W Fast Charge in the string that follows, hinting that OnePlus is working on bringing the faster-charging technology to future devices.

Of course, this isn’t something that can be added with a software update, so it’ll have to come to phones released in the future, perhaps to the OnePlus 8T. We’ll have to wait and see which devices OnePlus uses this new technology for, but it’s exciting either way. That is assuming the company can overcome some of the issues that come with super-fast charging, such as the longevity of the battery.
