Apple buys Dark Sky, immediately announces removal from Android - Android

The app offers some excellent weather features including one of the most unique radar views of any weather app. Enjoy it while you can, because you won’t be able to for much longer.

Dark Sky announced its acquisition by Apple in its blog for an undisclosed amount. The developers also outlined the future of Dark Sky and, well, the outlook is cloudy with a 100% chance of closure. The iOS app isn’t changing at all. It’ll remain available in the Apple App Store. However, they are removing both the Android version and the Wear OS version on July 1, 2020.

The app will continue to function until the deadline and any subscribers at that time will get a full refund of their $2.99 yearly subscription. In addition, the website is also closing down.
