What is When Calls The Heart?

The series is based on the book of the same name by author Janette Oke. Set in the early 20th century, the series centers on the residents who live in the small west Canadian town of Coal Valley. The series stars Erin Krakow as Elizabeth Thatcher, a woman who was born in a big city with wealth but moves to Coal Valley to work as a teacher.  The series also stars Jack Wagner, Martin Cummins, and (for the first five seasons and part of the sixth) Lori Loughlin.

Was Lori Loughlin fired from the show during season 6?

Yes. The actor, who played Aunt Becky on Full House, played the role of Abigail Stanton on When Calls The Heart from the beginning of the series. However, in the middle of production of season 6 in March 2019, Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli were accused by the FBI of illegally paying a third party so their daughters could attend the University of Southern California. The Hallmark Channel quickly fired Loughlin from the show. It also paused production of the sixth season of When Calls The Heart to do some reediting of previously filmed episodes and rewrite upcoming episodes.

So When Calls The Heart season 6 does drop on Netflix, you may notice that in the middle of the season, Loughlin’s Abigail Stanton is suddenly gone from Cold Valley, with a quick narration stating that she has left the town to take care of her sick mother.
