Audio-Technica’s first true wireless earbuds have style and specs to match - Android

Audio-Technica has announced its first true wireless earbuds at CES 2020.

Any audiophile will recognize the brand Audio-Technica. Its quality audio products make it onto many best lists from our sister site, Sound Guys, but it has yet to show up in our best true wireless earbuds list. The brand’s first venture into the true wireless earbuds market comes with the Audio-Technica QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW, announced at CES 2020.

Confusing names aside, Audio-Technica is known for making quality products you often see at studios. These earbuds are meant for the general consumer, but given the popularity of the true wireless earbuds market and the brand’s reputation, there are still plenty of eyes on it. While we can’t yet tell you if these are worth your hard-earned cash, the spec sheet seems to be playing a good melody.

The Audio-Technica QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW earbuds feature digital hybrid noise-canceling technology. Noise-cancelling microphones are located in the front and back, while another one is located in a horizontal orientation, within the chamber. Along with the 5.8mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.0, and support for aptX, AAC, and SBC, these earbuds should produce great sound and outstanding noise isolation. You need not worry much about not hearing your environment either. Audio-Technica has added a quick hear-through function to facilitate listening to your surroundings.

Battery life isn’t impressive at 4.5 hours of playback on a single charge, especially when competing products can reach upwards of 10 hours, but you also won’t be left stranded with no audio unless you plan on binge-listening. As per usual with these true wireless earbuds, the case doubles as a charger and offers an extra 13.5 hours of use.

At $249, the Audio-Technica QuietPoint ATH-ANC300TW earbuds are as expensive as the Apple AirPods Pro. There is no denying it’s hard to beat Apple products, but Audio-Technica has its following. If done right, there is a market for these true wireless earbuds. They are set for a Spring 2020 release, so we have time to find out.
