Parents who want to give children a tablet are usually looking for a product that’s fun to use, affordable, rugged, and features strong parental controls to block inappropriate content. Amazon recently refreshed the $99.99 kids version of its Fire 7 tablet which offers significant upgrades over its predecessor. You get a faster processor, more storage, a better camera setup, and improved battery life. The Fire 7 Tablet for Kids includes a rubber “kid-proof” case in blue, pink, or purple. Parents can set up to four individual profiles for their children, and the tablet comes with parental controls that can block access to videos and games until their kids reach certain educational goals. They can also set up bedtime curfews, along with ways to block access to social media and in-app purchases.
Purchasing this Android tablet for kids comes with a pretty big perk: a free year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, with access to over 20,000 books, movies, TV shows, educational apps, and games for kids aged 3-12. The web browser in the tablet offers a curated and appropriate list of over 56,000 websites, videos, and YouTube videos. Finally, the tablet has a two-year hardware guarantee — if it breaks for any reason, Amazon will replace it for free.

If you’re looking for a little more oomph, the Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet for Kids is also a great option that will set you back just an additional $30 compared to the 7-inch model. That extra money will get a larger, higher-resolution display, slightly more RAM, double the storage, and a lot more battery life. It also has dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Like the 7-inch model, there are three case color choices: blue, pink or yellow.
The 8-inch version also has the same two-year guarantee, the free year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, the parental controls and all of the other features found on the 7-inch model. Amazon’s middle-child Android tablet for kids is currently priced at $129.99.

Finally, you have the top of the line model of Amazon’s kid-friendly tablets with the Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet for Kids. Continuing the upward trend, the Fire HD 10 ups the screen size and resolution once again and also packs a much faster processor and more RAM.
You still get the same “kid-proof” cases found on the Amazon Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 tablets for kids, along with the two-year guarantee, the free year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, the parental controls, and all other features found on the smaller devices. You can normally buy the largest of Amazon’s kid tablets for $199.99, but be sure to be on the lookout for Amazon’s frequent discounts.

The Dragon Touch Y80 Kids tablet is one of the newer Android tablets for kids around. Specifications are in line with what you’d expect from a budget tablet built for kids. What’s important here are the kid-friendly features that are available with the device.
These include the premium version of the Kidoz app, which provides educational videos, apps, and games for kids to enjoy, plus impressive granular-level parental control. A high-quality silicone bumper case ensures that the tablet is safe from damage and also comes with a kickstand to prop up the device when watching videos. The Dragon Touch Y80 Kids tablet is currently priced at $84.99.

The Verizon GizmoTablet is a rebranded Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and the specifications are largely the same. In fact, at first glance, they’re basically identical but with a kid-friendly rugged case on the kids version.
What differentiates it from its counterpart is “Kids World.” This is a feature that is enabled by default and includes more than 300 educational apps with built-in parental controls to help you stay on top of what content is available. However, you can also get the full Android tablet experience by simply exiting this mode (a password is required to stop your kids from doing this of course).
Verizon is selling the GizmoTablet by Samsung for $249.99 without a contract, $149.99 with a two-year contract, or for payments of $10.41 a month for 24 months.
