Can’t make calls or send texts in the UK Don’t worry, you’re not alone - Android

Reports are coming in from users across the UK that all four major carriers are suffering network outages.

Smartphone users in the UK are reporting network signal issues across all four major carriers. Website Downdetector shows that users began registering complaints at around 10AM GMT (6AM ET) on EE, Vodafone, O2, and Three, as well as MVNO networks that piggyback off of the UK’s big four carriers.

The hotspots appear to be London and Manchester, though there are other reports across England, as well as Scotland and Northern Ireland. EE confirmed to the BBC that there is an issue, “that is affecting all operators and we are working closely to fix it.” It also allayed concerns that the outage is related to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the increase in people working from home.

O2’s service status checker has been updated with the following message: “We are aware that some customers may be experiencing issues with our voice service. Our technical teams are investigating. We apologise for any inconvenience. Updates will be shared here as soon they are available.”

The majority of complaints from users note the inability to make phone calls or send text messages, though there are some users that are reporting mobile data outages too.
