Garmin’s very expensive new smartwatch has a killswitch to wipe user data - Android

The cost of entry to control your own data is really high with this device.

User privacy is an ever-growing concern among technology customers. With its latest tactical smartwatch — the Tactix Delta — Garmin is taking those concerns seriously. Unfortunately, Garmin’s efforts come at a huge price tag. Like…a really huge price tag.

Right now, you can get your hands on Garmin’s latest privacy-focused smartwatch for about as much as the average flagship smartphone — a whopping $900. For that money, you get a couple of interesting features you most likely won’t find anywhere else. Most notably, the Garmin Tactix Delta offers an integrated stealth mode that won’t track your whereabouts at all and a built-in killswitch that instantly wipes all of your existing data on the device.

Of course, the watch comes with many other useful features we’ve come to expect from Garmin smartwatches and wearables. The Garmin Tactix Delta will track all of your workouts, including running, cycling, swimming, etc. It also offers several smart features like NFC payment functionality, 32GB of onboard storage to house all your music, and it displays your smartphone’s notifications. This smartwatch even touts an almost unheard of 21-day battery life.

All of that is wrapped in a rugged shell comprised of a fiber-reinforced polymer chassis, a Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) coated steel bezel, a sapphire crystal display, and a silicon wrist strap. Needless to say, this watch should be able to take one hell of a beating.

As you can probably guess, Garmin’s Tactix Delta is not for everyone. Honestly, if you aren’t an active military soldier or something, this smartwatch probably isn’t for you. On the other hand, if you are truly compelled by the idea of a crazy-durable fitness smartwatch that sports robust privacy features and you have almost $1,000 you are willing to spend on it, then go for it. You probably won’t find another product like this anywhere else.

Garmin Tactix Delta A high cost for durability and privacy.
The Tactix Delta features a truly rugged shell, an integrated stealth mode, a killswitch to wipe user data, and all the features we've come to expect from a high-end Garmin wearable. This smartwatch may not be for everyone, but if you are a part of a specific niche group of people, this could be exactly what you have been looking for.
