Google Fi airport vending machines will solve your roaming woes - Android

Need to grab a cheap roaming solution in a pinch? Google Fi is now available at some airport vending machines.

Google Fi is arguably one of the best deals right now for travelers, offering data access in over 150 countries for $10 a GB. Thankfully, Google is making things much easier for you when you go on your next trip.

The company is now offering Fi vending machines at various airports in the US, according to 9to5Google. The machines — doling out SIM cards and other accessories — were spotted in JFK’s terminal four and Newark’s terminal C.

For what it’s worth, I didn’t spot these in San Diego airport or LAX after traveling via these cities in recent days. So it’s possible that this is a limited launch or staggered roll-out.

In any case, this is a very sensible move from Google, as Fi is one of the better solutions for people going overseas. The $10/GB flat rate means you don’t need to worry about differing data costs at home or abroad.

One of the only major downsides to the service if you’re a traveler is that Google (perhaps understandably) frowns upon those wanting to use it overseas on a more permanent basis. “The services must be primarily used in the United States and are not intended for extended international use,” reads an excerpt of the terms and conditions. The terms add that Google can terminate your account if your out-of-network usage is excessive.
