Honor Magic Earbuds announced - Another AirPods clone, but in a nice teal - Android

Honor talks a big game about how great these sound, but it's fairly obvious where it got the inspiration for the design.

Honor announced a whole slew of things today, including the global version of the Honor 9X Pro. Along with that new smartphone, it also launched a new set of true-wireless headphones: the Honor Magic Earbuds. Notably, the earbuds feature a form of hybrid noise cancelation, which is definitely nice.

However, as has become the norm nowadays, the Honor Magic Earbuds look a lot like Apple’s popular line of AirPods.

During Honor’s launch event, it focused a lot on the sound quality of the Magic Earbuds. The headphones are powered by Bluetooth 5.0 and support A2DP 1.3, HFP 1.6, and AVRCP 1.5. The 10mm drivers will likely create a full, crisp sound.

The company claims that the Honor Magic Earbuds will get 3.5 hours of continuous music playback on just one charge. That maxes out to 13 hours of playback using the USB-C compatible charging case. It takes about 1.5 hours to charge the case from empty to full.

The star of the show, though, is the noise cancellation. Honor describes the system as “a hybrid feedforward/feedback ANC solution” that can achieve “an average noise canceling effect of over 24dB.” In other words, these will help block out ambient sound, but won’t be as good as some higher-priced earbuds or a good set of over-ears.

Unfortunately, the Honor Magic Earbuds do not have any kind of water-resistance built-in, so you won’t be able to take them swimming.

Although the Magic Earbuds are clearly AirPods clones, the two colors on offer — Pearl White and Robin Egg Blue — look quite nice. Also, you won’t spend nearly as much money on these as you would a set of AirPods Pro, as the Magic Earbuds start at €129 (~$140). They will hit store shelves across Europe in April.

There’s no word on a release of these in the United States, though.
