Huami Booth Tour - Android

Huami had a bunch of cool new products at CES 2020 and we got a chance to check them out during a booth tour.

At the forefront of the fitness tech revolution is Huami, which owns the Amazfit brand of wearables. This year at CES it had a few interesting products to announce including earbuds and smartwatches, but it also announced a new home fitness treadmill complete with virtual classes.

First, was the company’s new rugged Wear OS watch dubbed the Amazfit T-Rex. This tough-looking watch has a MIL-STD-810G durability rating and 5ATM water resistance so whatever you’re doing throughout the day, whether it be just getting your steps in or doing a spartan race, this should be up to the task. It has a heart-rate sensor, GPS, and Bluetooth 5 as well, making it everything you’d expect from a modern smartwatch at just $139.

Aside from mini-computers for your wrist, Huami was also showing off two new pairs of true wireless earbuds. Let’s start with the Zenbuds as they are the ones that fill a somewhat more unique niche in the market. These true wireless earbuds play soothing music and sounds to help you fall asleep at night similar to the Bose Sleepbuds. The battery life is spec’d at 12 hours but they also have an auto-off feature that can tell when you’ve dozed off to help conserve even more battery. That way you don’t have to recharge them every single night and can instead charge them every few days (depending on how long it takes you to fall asleep).

The second pair of true wireless earbuds announced are the Powerbuds which come with an attachable earhook that clicks on to the earbud magnetically. It’s surprisingly secure and the hooks conveniently can be stashed in the charging case as well, so whether you want to make use of them or not is up to you but at least you have the option. They weigh only 7 grams each, have an 8 hour battery life, an ambient mode to let you hear what’s going on around you, and also have an IP55 sweat resistant rating all for just $99.

Then there was the treadmill. It’s official name is the Amazfit home studio. It’s a really nicely built treadmill along with a display that you can hang on or prop against your wall. Amazfit is hoping this product will help you train and get healthy without even needing to leave your house. There’s no pricing on the treadmill just yet, but the classes will be a subscription-based service at just $35/month with new training content added constantly. The entire thing seemed very well-made and it was one of the most surprising things to randomly stumble upon while walking around CES. Make sure to keep an eye out for all their new products if you’re into fitness tech.
