The LG V60 is one of the better phones of 2020. It comes packed with a bunch of excellent features, including the Quad DAC, the Dual Screen case, a surprisingly decent camera, front facing speakers, and some of the best battery life we’ve ever seen. Plus it supports more niche features like HDMI-out. In short, the V60 can do almost anything you need it to do. There are plenty of folks who switched to LG for the first time from other phones to try these features. We want to help make the transition as fun and as seamless as possible. Here are some great tips and tricks for LG V60 owners to get the most out of their devices.

The LG V60 defaults its camera shots to 16MP, or about 25% of its actual 64MP range. You can change it in the camera app settings, but it will reset when you close the app all the way. Another, faster way to change it is to tap the 4:3 icon at the top of the screen and change it to 4:3 64MP. We can only guess why LG made this decision and why you can’t just set it to 64MP as a default, but if you want the most crisp, highest resolution shots, you have to change it to 64MP manually before you take the shot. In most instances, 16MP shots still look really good.
The stock camera app comes with more than half a dozen camera modes, but there are still two more you can add to the mix. Open the camera app, use the carousel to go from Photo mode to More. In the top right corner is a download icon and a pencil icon. Tap the download icon to open LG SmartWorld and download the Cine shot mode and the 360 Panorama mode from there. You can immediately start using them in the camera app when you’re done.
LG was one of the first OEMs to offer a manual camera mode and one of the few still to offer a manual video mode. This gives you outstanding control over your photography. Most people judge a phone’s camera based on its auto mode since it’s the one most people use and there is some truth to that. However, a good manual mode shot outpaces an auto mode shot most of the time. You can engage the manual modes using the camera app’s carousel menu and going to the More section. You can go a step deeper with the Graphy app as it works perfectly with LG’s manual mode. Between the app and some practice, you can take some seriously impressive photos with the V60.
For starters, it’s a lot better than the old one and there is actually a semi decent selection of themes, wallpapers, and icons. It looks almost identical to Samsung’s theme store. Folks who switched from Samsung devices should feel right at home minus the lack of Theme Park. Themes can occasionally cost a few bucks and LG accepts PayPal as a payment system. Themes work on all of the stock LG apps, the settings menu, the dialer, and a few other places as well. LG’s new theme store functions vastly better than its old one which nearly useless and one of the least ergonomic apps I’ve ever used.
