The OnePlus Nord’s rear camera array might not be quite as elaborate as first thought.
An Android Central source claims the more affordable OnePlus phone will offer a quad camera system at the back with a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro shooter, and a 2MP portrait cam. Those would be far cries from the 64MP main camera and 16MP wide-angle camera rumored earlier, but the macro camera would be a welcome addition.
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei had touted “flagship-level” photography, although you’ll have to wait until there’s proper hands-on time to test that claim.
The Nord is rumored to offer brawny specs for its sub-$500 price with a Snapdragon 765G chip, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4,300mAh battery. It’s also believed to have a 6.5-inch, 90Hz display with an under-screen fingerprint reader.
The company has confirmed that it will reveal the Nord on July 21 at 10AM Eastern. OnePlus is skipping North America for this inaugural Nord launch and will instead focus on places like Europe and India. For now, at least, the OnePlus 8 is as close as you get to a brand new OnePlus phone for the budget-conscious.
