Update: December 19, 2019 (1:34 PM ET): It looks like a few leaked pictures of the Oppo Reno 3 5G and Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G just surfaced on Weibo. In one post, we get a good look at the front and back of the supposed Reno 3 5G in a familiar-looking blue colorway. The photos below highlight what looks like a triple camera rear-facing camera setup, though it could also be a quad-camera array.
We also see a small notch accenting the front of the device, but no physical Oppo branding on the back. We expect that will change when the device is available to the public.
Interestingly, the device also shows off some of the handset’s specs on screen. If the image is to be believed, this Reno 3 5G is running Android 10 with Color OS 7 atop, and it features 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a dual-SIM slot.
In another post, we see even more photos of the supposed Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G in two different colors. These pictures reveal the hole-punch style camera cutout on the front of the device and a clearly visible quad-camera setup on the back. Unlike the above Reno 3 5G, the Reno 3 Pro 5G sports some clear Oppo branding, and we don’t get a peek at the device internals.
Though these pictures look pretty legit, we must always take information like this with a grain of salt. But, with it being so close to the December 26 release date, I’m willing to bet these are the devices we are going to see next week.
Original Article: December 10, 2019 (1:41 AM ET): Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo will launch the Oppo Reno 3 5G and Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G just before the end of 2019. It’s likely, then, that you won’t be able to buy one of the handsets until 2020, but it will be nice to close out the year with the launch of some new phones.
It appears that both of the Reno 3 devices will feature dual-band 5G connectivity. There won’t be a 4G-only version of either device, as far as we can tell, so if you want a Reno 3 you’ll be getting a 5G phone whether you want one or not.

Weibo
On December 11, Oppo posted via its official Weibo account that the Oppo Reno 3 series launch event will take place on December 26, 2019. The event will be held at the Hangzhou International Expo Center in Hangzhou, China. You’ll certainly see the debut of the Oppo Reno 3 5G and the Oppo Reno Pro 5G at this event.
The company also hinted that it might unveil other products at this event alongside the Reno 3 series of handsets, including possibly a pair of true wireless earbuds. However, this is an unconfirmed rumor as of now.
TENAA
We’ve already seen many different images of the Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G and a few of the Oppo Reno 3 5G. We’ve seen the devices from multiple angles from multiple sources, so we have a pretty good idea of what it looks like.
In the TENAA images above, you can see a blue-ish variant of what is almost certainly the Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G. Below you can see a few real-life images of the Reno 3 Pro 5G, courtesy of this Weibo post. In case you need clarification, the Reno 3 Pro 5G is the device with the very colorful back:
From what we can tell so far, the Reno 3 series appears to be borrowing heavily from the design of the Huawei P30 Pro, right down to the Twilight-inspired colorway. The vertically aligned quad camera system is in much the same spot as the one on the P30 Pro.
On the front, though, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G is using a punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera, rather than a notch as we saw on the P30 Pro. However, the vanilla Reno 3 5G will feature a waterdrop style notch instead of the cutout. Scroll down to the Price and Availability section to see a small image of that.
