Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus already has a (brief) hands-on video, confirms specs - Android

The phone won't launch for another month, but the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus already has a hands-on video.

Apparently, someone has gotten their hands on a leaked prototype or possibly even retail version of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus. Over the past few days, we’ve seen a few leaks related to the device all stemming from one source via XDA Developers.

Today, that source has uploaded a 15-seconds-long hands-on video which shows the Galaxy S20 Plus in full. You can see the brief video clip above.

The video itself confirms a few things we already expected, such as the center-aligned selfie camera cutout, the rectangular camera module, the existence of an in-display fingerprint sensor, the lack of a headphone jack, etc. It also confirms a predictable black colorway.

However, the leaker also confirmed a few other aspects of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus that the video doesn’t show. We’ve listed those out here:

The display resolution comes in at 3,200 x 1,440 pixels. This is because of the taller 20:9 aspect ratio.
The in-display fingerprint sensor is ultrasonic, not optical.
The display will refresh at a rate of 120Hz. There will also be a settings toggle to turn this feature on or off.
The 120Hz refresh rate is locked to a 1080p resolution, so you’ll need to choose between 60Hz at 1440p or 120Hz at 1080p.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus will support 25W charging and come with a 25W charging brick in the box.
The model obtained by the leaker comes with 11GB of RAM (likely to be marketed as 12GB). There is 128GB of onboard storage.
The rated battery capacity of the Galaxy S20 Plus is 4,500mAh.

All in all, there are some exciting things here as well as some disappointments. The 12GB of RAM paired with 128GB of internal storage is nice, as is the 4,500mAh battery. The 120Hz display refresh rate is also a nice touch.

However, 25W of charging speed is fairly slow when compared to other premium devices on the market, and forcing 1080p with the 120Hz refresh rate is kind of silly. The lack of the headphone jack is profoundly disappointing, obviously, and Samsung sticking with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is a bit of a bummer.

Judging from this information, it seems as if the rumored Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is going to be the premium device-of-choice for spec-hungry buyers.
