Amid the current coronavirus pandemic, people are trying to take as many health and sanitation precautions as possible. Samsung wants to help its global customers in that process the best it can. To achieve that, the company is offering a free Samsung Galaxy sanitizing service to disinfect its products in the fight to stop the coronavirus from spreading (h/t: SamMobile).

Customers with one of Samsung’s Galaxy products are eligible for this coronavirus sanitation service. This includes the company’s Galaxy-branded phones, wearables, or wireless earbuds.

The service uses UV-C light, so it doesn’t utilize any harsh chemicals. In fact, Samsung advises against using harsh chemicals to clean your phone as they can damage the device’s oleophobic coating. Samsung has thoroughly tested this process to make sure it doesn’t have any negative performance impact on its devices.

As of right now, the service is currently available at all participating Samsung Service Centers and Samsung Experience Stores across 19 countries. This includes Argentina, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, the United States, Ukraine, and Vietnam.

Customers in Australia, Austria, Canada, Czechia, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, the Philippines, Romania, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom will be able to take advantage of the service soon.

Samsung admits results will vary between service centers since not all UV lights used at its service centers are identical, and it can’t guarantee the service will prevent users from contracting the coronavirus. Still, something is better than nothing.
