Should the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra be the last Galaxy Note - Android

Samsung has two expensive devices focused on productivity. They both excel at their own things, but should they merge them?

Samsung has always flexed the Galaxy Note as the ultimate productivity machine. It’s fast, it’s big, and supposedly most importantly, it has a stylus built right into the chassis. This is all true of its latest flagship Note phone, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

The S Pen has been a controversial tool for ages, creating diehard fans that use it for, well, pretty much everything it can do. But the other half of the aisle feels that it’s mostly useless, or at least, they forget it’s even there except for every now and then. And yet the S Pen remains, year after year slowly improving to have lower latency, act as a remote shutter and… a clicker for your Powerpoint presentations.

But now, Samsung has a new productivity king, the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The Z Fold 2 takes most of what the Note series excels at, and by and large, makes it even better. The first generation Fold definitely had its issues, like the front screen being way too small and the interior screen being too fragile. But after using the original Fold long enough to form a cohesive opinion, I personally found that the foldable phone/tablet hybrid made me way more productive than the presence of a stylus ever could.

Now, Samsung is in a horribly weird spot. It has two incredibly expensive devices, both of which are meant to be productivity workhorses for the hardcore user. But if you’ve got two separate expensive productivity-focused devices, wouldn’t it make sense to merge them?

In the video above, I explain my thoughts on why I think Samsung should shelve the Note series and instead produce a single Galaxy Z Fold with an S Pen. Check out the video and tell us what you think about the idea of merging the Note and Fold lines in the poll below.
