Xiaomi
There may be a lot more competition in the ultra-affordable segment now, but Xiaomi continues to rise to the challenge. The company raised the bar once again with the Redmi Note 8, which brings with it a series of first to the under-10,000 rupees price range.
The device offers more RAM, more storage, and a higher resolution display than most of the competition in this price range. It’s also one of the few to come with a quad-camera setup, a macro lens, and the first to feature a 48MP primary shooter, fast-charging capabilities, and a water-repellent coating. Xiaomi has always blurred the lines as far as price vs specs and features are concerned, and the Redmi Note 8 is another fantastic example of this.

Realme continues to expand its budget-friendly portfolio with the Realme 5s. While it doesn’t replace its namesake, it makes the Realme 5 somewhat irrelevant. Starting with the similarities, the 5s retain the same processing package, display, and battery found in the Realme 5. In fact, both even look identical, with varying colorways the only way to really distinguish between them.
The difference comes in the form of the camera setup. The Realme 5s brings the camera of the excellent 5 Pro to a more affordable package. The Realme 5s is the best option of course, but if you’re looking to save some money, the 5i more than gets the job done.

The introduction of the Samsung Galaxy M30s in India has pushed the Galaxy M30 into the ultra-affordable price range, which is fantastic news for consumers. The Galaxy M30 remains an extremely capable device since it is, after all, still a 2019 release.
It comes with a higher resolution display than most of the phones on this list, and Samsung’s display prowess tends to shine through regardless of the resolution anyway. A mid-range processing package, an impressive camera setup, and a huge battery round out what is one of the best phones you can buy for under 10,000 rupees.

The Redmi Note series may have snuck into this price range as well, but Xiaomi’s main ultra-affordable offerings are the Redmi and Redmi A devices. The latest editions — the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A Dual — retain what makes these phones great, while introducing a slew of features that go far beyond what their price points would suggest. They are definitely some of the best phones under 10,000 rupees you can get.
There isn’t a whole lot of difference between the two phones this time around. In fact, the design and the internals of the Redmi 8 are almost a carbon copy of the Redmi 8A Dual. All that’s different is a fingerprint sensor on the back and an option with more RAM. The Dual edition of the Redmi 8A removed another difference between the two, with the cheaper device now also coming with a dual rear camera setup (hence the name).
If you’re okay without the extras, the Redmi 8A helps you save a decent chunk. However, even with its higher starting price, the Redmi 8 is one of the most affordable phones you can buy in India.

Realme
Realme isn’t leaving any stone unturned to capture as big a share of the Indian market as possible. While it has made it’s home in the sub-20,000 rupees segment, the company is now foraying into both the budget-friendly flagship and the ultra-affordable sectors. Leading in charge in the case of the latter is the Realme C3.
The C3 ticks all the ultra-affordable smartphone boxes. A decent processing package, dual rear cameras, a large HD screen, and a huge battery round out this device. There are few key upgrades over its predecessor, particularly in the battery and camera departments, despite the quick turnaround between editions. What’s in favor of the Realme C3 is the fact that it runs Android 10. Even though all the devices on this list are relatively recent releases, the C3 is the only one to feature the latest version of the OS.

In a category where designs, specifications, and features are seemingly becoming identical, smartphone makers are pushing their boundaries to offer something unique to the consumer and to stand out in the ever-growing crowd. The One Macro is Motorola’s attempt.
The specs and design of the phone don’t do much to differentiate it from all the others in this price range. What does though, and also gives the phone its name, is the macro camera that Motorola has added to the rear camera setup. This allows users to get as close as two centimeters (0.8 inches) to a subject for some pretty impressive close-up shots.
