This $190 Lenovo tablet turns into a smart display, but its name is bonkers - Android

This tablet/smart display hybrid is cool, but this name is just atrocious.

Lenovo Smart Tab M10 right profile

Lenovo’s tablets in its Smart Tab line are quite interesting. They’re decent tablets on their own but when you dock them they become more akin to an Amazon Echo smart display, powered by Alexa. At CES 2020, the company unveiled the newest entry in the family, the Lenovo Smart Tab M10.

However, that’s not the full name of the device. The full, official name of the tablet is the Lenovo Smart Tab M10 FHD Plus 2nd Gen with Google Assistant. You read that right: there are 11 words in the name of this tablet.

To save space we’re going to call it the LSTM10FHD2GWGA.

Anyway, the LSTM10FHD2GWGA obviously is powered by Google Assistant instead of Alexa, which is a welcome change. In essence, that makes the LSTM10FHD2GWGA more akin to a Google Home Hub when it’s docked.

Check out some pics below:

The images above show the tablet layout rather than the smart display layout, despite the fact that the LSTM10FHD2GWGA is docked. Normally, you would see an ambient mode that would show the time and pertinent notifications. From there, you can easily wake up the device with just a quick “OK Google” hotword.

As far as specs go, the LSTM10FHD2GWGA is nothing too noteworthy. It comes with a MediaTek Helio P22T processor, either 2 or 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of internal storage, and a 5,000 mAh battery. It also has a 10.3-inch 1,920 x 1,200 display.

Those aren’t the greatest specs in the world, but the tablet starts at just $190, so you get what you pay for. Besides, the real selling point of the device is the fact that it can replace the tablet you use in the kitchen and your smart display, if that’s what you’re looking to do.

You’ll be able to grab the LSTM10FHD2GWGA — or the Lenovo Smart Tab M10 if you want to find it on Google — starting in April this year.
