LG used to be the only manufacturer offering handsets with ultra-wide rear cameras, but the move to triple-camera setups in the 18 months or so has seen loads of brands adopt this type of sensor. It’s not hard to see why though, as it offers a unique perspective, allowing you to better capture landscapes and cityscapes. So with that in mind, we take a look at the best smartphones with wide-angle cameras.
Editor’s note: We’ll be updating this list of the best smartphones with wide-angle cameras as more devices are launched. So check back every few months for more picks!
The Samsung Galaxy S20 series is arguably the top Android flagship family right now, offering powerful internals, 8K recording, and smooth 120Hz refresh rates.
All three Galaxy S20 phones offer 12MP shooters for ultra-wide snaps. These aren’t the highest resolution ultra-wide cameras by any measure, but we were pretty happy with the results in our Galaxy S20 series reviews.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra is the most feature-packed phone of the family, packing a 108MP main camera, 48MP 4x periscope camera, and the biggest battery of the lot. But you’re still getting a great experience by opting for the other devices, including IP68 designs and wireless charging.

The Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus are quintessential 2020 flagships in many ways, offering a heavyweight Kirin 990 processor, 4,200mAh batteries with 40W charging, wireless charging, and water-resistant designs. Huawei’s phones are pretty beastly in the camera field too, sharing a 50MP RYYB main camera and a 40MP ultra-wide shooter.
That 40MP ultra-wide camera should excel in low-light environments, although the field of view isn’t quite as wide as other ultra-wide snappers. Nevertheless, you’ll definitely notice a difference when switching between your main camera and this one.
Otherwise, the P40 Pro Plus differs from the P40 Pro by having 40W wireless charging, and two zoom cameras (3x and 10x). Meanwhile, the standard P40 Pro has 27W wireless topups and one zoom camera (5x optical).
Do be warned that the P40 Pro is the first P series flagship to lack Google Mobile Services. So if you must have the Play Store, the Gmail app, a proper Google Maps app, and other Google services, this isn’t for you.

The Oppo Find X2 Pro is right up there as one of the best premium flagships of 2020, going toe to toe with the Galaxy S20 series in many ways. It also brings the heat when it comes to photography.
Oppo’s phone packs a 48MP IMX586 ultra-wide snapper, making it the highest resolution ultra-wide camera on the market right now. You also got a brand-new 48MP IMX689 main camera with bigger pixels for improved low-light shots, and a 3x telephoto shooter.
