Not much love for Honor, Sony, or ZTE this year

2019 was a fantastic year to be interested in smartphones. We saw the first (real) folding phone come to market, we saw smartphone OEMs release Android 10 updates quicker than ever before, and we saw the rise of smaller smartphone brands in the upper mid-range segment. But which smartphone manufacturer came out on top?

We asked you last week to vote for the phone brand you thought had the best year in 2019. Out of almost 2,500 total votes, two manufacturers clearly stood out to you.

According to you, dear readers, OnePlus had the best year in 2019 with 28.1% of the votes, followed by Samsung with 19%. Surprisingly, Apple took third place with 13.27% of the votes. Huawei just beat out Realme with 7.2% of the votes compared to Realme’s 7.05%.

Elsewhere, it was a fight for the bottom. Honor, Sony, and ZTE only garnered less than 2% of the votes combined.

Would have been Oneplus if they’d not kept raising their prices. To the next underdog! (Xiaomi) why do they do it? Google’s Pixel, Huawei, Oneplus, they make one great handset then spend the following year with huge increases to each new release. All it does is lose a chunk of would be buyers, or are the price increases that large that the income from fans and repeat buyers are meaningless?
Xiaomi did a spectacular thing this year. realising smartphone that are bang for your buck.
Watching how realme grows makes others looks like a joke
LG did release the G8X and has been doing well for themselves. They just don’t seem to get much of the spotlight.
It seems like a lot of the companies have been receiving bad press this year and facing issues for a variety of reasons, I think LG was doing fine in this regard. I think Google was also doing a good job with the new Pixel despite the criticism.
I went from a Pixel 2 to a OnePlus 7T, and I was beyond impressed, phone is nice, fast, good features, great camera (albeit with the help of a modded Gcam), only thing I miss is the squeeze feature of the Pixel 2, instead I have to use the hold-the-power-button-for a second one, which while it works is not as intuitive
I think OnePlus had the least trouble this year over others.
