We asked, you told us - Razr form factor with Galaxy Fold specs is what you want - Android

What's the best foldable smartphone design for most people? You clearly have some thoughts.

Foldables are a new product category, and we’re seeing a few manufacturers experiment with different form factors. What’s the best foldable design for most people? Is it the flip phone-style Motorola Razr that’s more pocketable? Is it the book-style Galaxy Fold that gives you more screen real estate? Or is it the reverse book-style Huawei Mate X that gives you a bigger screen on the front?

We don’t know the answer to that, which is why we asked you to weigh in last week. Out of almost 10,000 total votes across the website and YouTube, there’s a clear winner.

Which is better: Motorola Razr, Galaxy Fold, or Mate X?

Results

Most Android Authority readers voted for the Motorola Razr, as the new foldable received over 40% of the overall votes. Second place is given to the Samsung Galaxy Fold with over 20% of the votes, while the Huawei Mate X came in third with over 15% of the votes. Surprisingly, over 23% of voters said they don’t like any of the foldables out right now.

Voters on the website were a little more willing to choose the Razr; it received 44% of the votes on AndroidAuthority.com. The Galaxy Fold and Mate X were much closer — sitting at 23% and 22%, respectively — while the “I don’t like any of them” option only had about 10% of the votes on the website.

There were some interesting comments on the website and YouTube about this poll. A fair amount of voters said they’d prefer the Razr’s form factor with the Galaxy Fold’s specs. I can’t say I disagree. Lucky for them, Samsung might be making that very phone sometime soon.

Noteworthy comments

Here are some of the best comments from last week’s poll explaining why they voted the way that they did:

  • Why is Razr even being considered ? The idea of foldables is to get you a bigger screen in unfolded state than is currently possible ? Folding a normal sized phone to an even smaller form, how is that helpful. And on top of that, Razr can’t be even called midrange by most spec standards, and they asking for 1500$ for that ? it’s laughable.
  • Wow; a lot of Verizon users on this poll! The Razr is cool, but woefully under-spec’d for its price. Samsung’s next foldable will certainly beat it in every way, for a similar price. That’s what I’m waiting to see.
  • I honestly couldn’t care less for any foldable. They’re far too fragile for daily use and fall in a category that is the worst of both worlds: too small to be a good tablet, too big to be a good phone.

That’s it for this week, everyone. As always, thanks for voting, thanks for the comments, and don’t forget to let us know what you thought of the results below!
