Depending on which company makes your phone, you might get a new Android update right after it’s announced, or you might need to wait months on end.
The Android 11 Developer Preview has been a big topic of conversation this week, with the update now rolling out to Pixel phones. However, even though Google won’t update its distribution chart to tell us the exact numbers, we know the majority of users are not even running Android 10, the latest stable version of Android.
Well, not normal users, anyway. Last week we asked you which version of Android you’re running, and the results shouldn’t be all that surprising for an Android-focused website.
Out of over 1,300 total votes, 62% of voters said they’re running Android 10, while 4% are already running the new Android 11 Developer Preview. I wouldn’t expect anything less from people reading an Android website.
Additionally, 23% are running Android 9 Pie, 6% are still on Android 8-8.1 Oreo, and 3% are running Android 7-7.1 Nougat. And then there are the 1% of Android Authority readers who are still running Android 6 Marshmallow and Android 4.4 KitKat.
It’s always interesting to see how many AA readers are running each version of Android. I don’t have exact numbers, but I can also tell you that if this poll were to include iOS versions, those numbers would rival the Android 10 numbers.
Here are some of the best comments from last week’s poll explaining why they voted the way that they did:
That’s it for this week. As always, thanks for voting, thanks for the comments, and don’t forget to let us know what you thought of the results below!
