What Deep Fusion iPhone 11 Pro Max can’t beat Huawei Mate 30 Pro, says DxOMark - Android

According to DxOMark, if you want the best smartphone camera on the market, Apple isn't the company for you.

While we will be the first to admit that DxOMark’s reviews are not the be-all-end-all for which handset is the best, the scores are still an interesting way of comparing phones. Today, the iPhone 11 Pro Max DxOMark review went live and its score is quite interesting.

The latest-and-greatest Apple smartphone achieved a very respectable score of 117 for the photographs taken with its triple-lens rear camera system, the same score as the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus. However, that score is significantly lower than two other Android smartphones: the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Premium Edition and the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. Both those devices have a rear camera photography score of 121.

Notably, though, the iPhone 11 Pro Max DxOMark review concludes that the newest iPhone is equal to the Mi CC9 when it comes to video and slightly better than the Mate 30 Pro in the same respect.

It should be mentioned that DxOMark conducted its review on an iPhone with the Deep Fusion upgrade, which allegedly makes image processing more powerful.

As an example of what the iPhone camera can do, here are three images: one from the iPhone, one from the Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G, and one from the Mate 30 Pro. See if you can figure out which is which (no cheating!).

From left-to-right, it’s the Mate 30 Pro, the iPhone 11 Pro Max, and the Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G. You can see that the iPhone makes the sky in the background overly bright, especially as compared to the other two devices.

The full iPhone 11 Pro Max DxOMark review contains many more examples that conclude the iPhone does exceptionally well in most situations but is not as good of an all-arounder as the Mate 30 Pro.

This isn’t the first time the latest iPhone didn’t measure up against a Huawei device. The iPhone XS Max — the 2018 flagship from Apple — came in with a score of 106 while both the Huawei P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro beat it out with scores of 109 and 112 respectively.
