You told us - A ton of you would buy a pricier Note 20 with a headphone jack - Android

Nearly 25,000 of you voted, and the results are in: Samsung should probably bring back the headphone jack on the Note 20.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note line has traditionally been for people who want more out of their smartphones — more screen, more battery, more multitasking features. That is, until the Galaxy Note 10. Samsung followed the industry and removed the headphone jack from the Note 10 series, marking an interesting shift in the Note line’s philosophy. This, obviously, turned many people away from the Note.

But what if Samsung brought back the headphone jack in the Galaxy Note 20? If a Note 20 variant with a headphone jack went for, say, $50 more, would you buy it? We asked you this very question last week. Out of nearly 25,000 total votes, the overall results seem to be pretty split.

Results

There’s a lot to dig into here. Overall, the results are split nearly down the middle. 53.3% of voters said they wouldn’t buy a headphone jacked Note 20 for $50 extra, while 46.7% said they would.

Voters on the website and Instagram definitely voted in favor of the headphone jack returning. 63.55% on the website and 55.36% of voters on Instagram said they’d spend the extra cash.

Things played out a bit differently on Twitter and Facebook. 53% of Twitter voters and 63% of Facebook voters said they would not pay the extra $50 for a headphone jack.

Do we think Samsung would actually make a Note 20 with a headphone jack? Probably not. But if it did, it would clearly be very popular with Note fans.

JosephHindy: If it were an LG style jack with an Amp and dac in it, hell yeah.But a regular headphone jack costs like a fraction of a cent in bulk, an up charge like that is ridiculous.So, my answer is maybe lol.
DBS: Is that $50 headphone jack an LG headphone jack with the high quality quadDAC in it? ’cause that’s the only way a headphone jack would cost $50.Anyway, I won’t buy a phone without a headphone jack, no matter the price. If I’m already paying +1000€ for a phone, it must have everything built in, including a headphone jack. How much the headphone jack costs the OEM is of no concern to me.
Itamar Baum: I would have to say no, but it is not because I don’t think the headphone jack is worth $50, it is more to you to the fact that’s just a thought removing a feature that is always there and then charging a premium for it makes me nauseous. What’s next? Pay extra for having an ear piece?
Bob Veats: That $50 is ridiculous. What does the component actually cost to put in the phone, 20 cents? I want the jack, and I’ll buy the phone that gives it to me. I don’t want to drag a $10 dongle around that keep me from using headphones and charging the phone at the same time. With all the other sensors, bells and whistles I don’t use day to day, I don’t want to buy $200 pair of wireless headphones that needs daily charging either.
