HMD Global first announced the Nokia 8.3 5G in March of this year, which honestly feels like a century ago. Today, the company behind the revitalized Nokia smartphone brand has finally started sales for the phone.
The Nokia 8.3 5G is the first 5G-capable smartphone with the Nokia name. Not to be outdone by the competition, the phone features more 5G antennas than any other, according to HMD Global. That should help it connect to both standalone and non-standalone networks more efficiently than competitor’s products.
However, all those antennas only help the phone connect to the sub-6GHz signal. The phone is not compatible with mmWave technology.

The Nokia 8.3 5G features a 2,400 x 1,080 6.81-inch display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset. Alongside that mid-range processor, you’ll find 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB), and a 4,500mAh battery. There’s also a dual-SIM slot, a headphone jack, and an NFC chip.
There are four cameras on the back, with the primary lens packing a Zeiss 64MP sensor. Alongside that, you’ll find a 12MP ultra-wide, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens.
Powering it all will be the Android One version of Android 10 out of the box. HMD Global promises that the Nokia 8.3 5G will receive Android 11 and Android 12, as well as three years of security updates.
Sales for the Nokia 8.3 5G begin today, September 22. In the United Kingdom, the phone will set you back £499 (~$639) and in Europe €599 (~$703). The phone will land at various carriers in the UK starting in October, including O2, Argos, Voda, and others.
All purchases of the Nokia 8.3 5G will come with a six-month-long trial of Google One, which is a nice perk.
HMD Global didn’t divulge pricing and availability for the United States, nor did it confirm if the device will even make it Stateside. We’ll update this article should that change.
