In a recent Instagram post, we asked you what feature you wanted Google to include in the company’s upcoming budget handset. We saw a lot of answers we too would love to see, but one of them was easily the most requested Pixel 4a feature: a wide-angle camera.

Other suggestions included wireless charging, at least two camera lenses, expandable storage, bigger battery capacity, and more. But none of these were as unanimous as a wide or ultra-wide angle lens.

Too bad it’s not going to happen.

The battle between wide and telephoto lenses has been raging for quite some time. Some OEMs have opted for one or the other, while others include both on select handsets. Neither option is fundamentally better than the other, and both have their own pros and cons.

So far, it looks like the handset will feature a 12.2MP rear-facing sensor with OIS and EIS. We’ve yet to hear whether the Pixel 4a will feature a telephoto or wide-angle camera, so at this point, anything is possible. However, Google didn’t include a wide-angle sensor on the Pixel 4, so it’s unlikely it’ll appear on the 4a.
